# Supported Countries and Bank Account Formats

## This article lists every country PaymentWorks supports for international bank account details, along with the exact bank account format required for each country. Use it to confirm which details a supplier needs to provide before entering or updating international banking information.

**Before you begin**

- **Each country accepts one format only.** Bank details must be provided in the format listed for that country. Other formats, including domestic-only formats, are not accepted.
- **Domestic bank codes are not accepted on their own.** Local identifiers such as sort codes, routing or transit numbers, BSB codes, or national bank codes cannot be used in place of a SWIFT/BIC code or IBAN.
- **Some countries require a national tax ID.** Argentina, Brazil, China, and Mexico require a national tax ID in addition to the bank details listed.
- **Coverage percentage** shows the share of banks or bank accounts in a country for which bank account data is available through PaymentWorks' data provider. It is not a validation success rate. A dash ("-") means provider data is not currently available for that country; the country and its listed format are still supported.
- **Country codes** are two-letter ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes.

**Accepted formats**

The table below explains what each format requires. Suppliers can usually find these details on a bank statement, in online banking, or by contacting their bank.

| SWIFT/BIC + RIB | The bank's SWIFT/BIC code and the RIB (Relevé d'Identité Bancaire), the full bank account identifier used in Algeria, Morocco, and Guinea-Bissau. | 3 |
| SWIFT/BIC + NUBAN | The bank's SWIFT/BIC code and the 10-digit Nigeria Uniform Bank Account Number (NUBAN). | 1 |
| SWIFT/BIC + CBU | The bank's SWIFT/BIC code and the 22-digit Clave Bancaria Uniforme (CBU). Also requires a national tax ID. | 1 |
| SWIFT/BIC + CLABE | The bank's SWIFT/BIC code and the 18-digit Clave Bancaria Estandarizada (CLABE). Also requires a national tax ID. | 1 |

A SWIFT/BIC code is an 8- or 11-character code that identifies a specific bank. An IBAN begins with the two-letter country code and can be up to 34 characters long.
