Entering Non-U.S. Bank Information - Coming Soon

This article explains how to enter and validate non-U.S. bank information in a Payee Profile. The bank fields displayed depend on the country selected, and PaymentWorks uses a third-party service to validate the bank details when possible.

Select a Non-U.S. Bank Location and Payment Method

  1. In the Payee Profile, navigate to the Banking section.

  2. Select the Bank Location Country.

  3. Choose a Payment Method that requires bank information (for example, Wire).

  4. PaymentWorks automatically displays the bank fields required for the selected country.

  5. Enter the requested bank information.

Each country supports specific banking formats and required fields.

A complete list of supported formats is available here:
International Bank Information Requirements by Country

Example: Entering Bank Information for Mexico

If Mexico is selected as the bank location, you may see two format options.

Option 1: SWIFT/BIC + Account Number (Recommended)

Enter the following:

  • SWIFT/BIC (up to 11 characters)
    Example: BMSXMXMMXXX

  • Account Number (up to 12 digits)
    Example: 012916111812

Option 2: SWIFT/BIC + CLABE

Enter the following:

  • SWIFT/BIC (up to 11 characters)
    Example: BMSXMXMMXXX

  • CLABE (18 digits)
    Example: 021180040241707555

Select one format and complete the required fields.

Additional Information That May Be Required

Depending on the country, you may also be asked to provide:

  • Account Holder Name

  • National Tax Identification Number

Country-Specific Tax ID Requirements

Country Field Requirement Notes
Brazil National Tax ID Required
China National Tax ID Required for corporate accounts only
Colombia National Tax ID Company or National ID required. Acceptable formats: NIT (9–11 characters), CC (10 characters), CE (6 characters)
Mexico National Tax ID Required for USD currency accounts only

These details help confirm account ownership and support verification processes.

Validate the Bank Information

After entering the required fields:

  1. Click Validate Bank.

  2. PaymentWorks sends the bank details to a third-party validation service.

  3. The service checks that the bank information matches the required format for the selected country.

Note:
Bank validation confirms that the information is correctly formatted. It does not confirm account ownership.

Validation Outcomes

1. Successful Validation

If validation succeeds:

  • Bank name and address are retrieved automatically.

  • Manual bank entry is not required.

2. Validation Not Available

If the bank cannot be validated:

  • You will be prompted to manually enter the bank name and address.

3. Invalid Entry

If the information entered is incorrect:

  • A warning message appears.

  • You must correct the errors before validation can proceed.

Important:
Payees have up to three validation attempts. After three unsuccessful attempts, automatic validation is disabled and manual bank entry is required.

What Happens Next

After submitting bank information:

  1. Your customer receives the payment information details.

  2. The information may go through additional review or verification before payments are issued.
