PaymentWorks EarlyPay Payee FAQs
This article explains how the PaymentWorks EarlyPay option works, including how to enroll, when you’ll receive payment, how early payment discounts are calculated, and how to manage your settings.
About PaymentWorks EarlyPay
What is PaymentWorks EarlyPay?
EarlyPay is a PaymentWorks program that allows payees to receive payment as soon as an invoice is approved, rather than waiting until the due date. Discounts are only applied when payment is received early and are proportional to how early the payment is made.
Is EarlyPay required?
No. EarlyPay is optional and not required by any payer. You can choose another payment method at any time.
EarlyPay Enrollment & Participation
How was I enrolled in EarlyPay?
You are enrolled in EarlyPay when a user on your account selects PaymentWorks EarlyPay ACH during onboarding with a payer, or when updating the registration form to change payment method at a later time. PaymentWorks and payers cannot enroll you in EarlyPay on your behalf.
How can I enroll in EarlyPay with additional payers?
EarlyPay is only available through participating payers. Enrollment must be completed separately within each payer’s registration form.
How can I opt out of EarlyPay?
You can opt out at any time by updating your payment method. PaymentWorks or your payers cannot unenroll you from PaymentWorks EarlyPay.
Steps to Update Your Payment Method:
- Log in to PaymentWorks
- Visit the PaymentWorks login page and log in using your credentials.
- Access Your Payer’s Registration Form
- Locate your completed registration form and click the View/Edit Form button next to it.
- Update Your Payment Method
- Go to the Payment Information tab.
- Make the necessary updates to your payment method.
- Save Your Changes
- Once your changes are complete, click Submit at the bottom of the form to save your updates.
- Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email.
What happens if I opt out of EarlyPay?
Once you opt out of EarlyPay, future invoices will be paid according to your payer’s standard payment terms without any early payment discount. Approved invoices or payments in process prior to the opt out may still be completed under EarlyPay terms.
How can I confirm my EarlyPay opt-out was successful?
A confirmation email will be sent after you submit your changes. It will include the payer name and be delivered to the email address associated with your login.
EarlyPay Payments & Timing
When will I receive my EarlyPay payment?
Once your invoice is marked Approved by the payer, payment is advanced. Funds are typically available in your bank account within one business day of the remittance notification.
Do I need to change how I submit invoices?
No. Continue submitting invoices according to your payer’s existing process.
How will an EarlyPay payment appear on my bank statement?
The sender may appear as:
- PAYMENTWORKS
- PAYMENTWORKS [payer name] EARLYPAY
The deposited amount matches the EarlyPay Amount in your remittance advice.
Does EarlyPay apply to all invoices?
EarlyPay applies to all eligible invoices from participating payers while you are enrolled in the EarlyPay program. A discount is only applied when payment is made before the 30 day term. Invoices paid on or after the due date will not have a discount deducted.
Why wasn't this invoice paid via EarlyPay?
In some cases, an invoice may not be paid early through EarlyPay based on program criteria. If this occurs, you will receive payment and remittance directly from the payer according to the original invoice terms, with no discount applied.
EarlyPay Discounts & Calculations
How does the EarlyPay discount work?
Discounts are based on how early payment is received:
- Starts at 3% when early payment is made on the invoice date
- Decreases by 0.1% per day
- Reaches 0% at 30 days
The earlier the payment, the higher the discount. View the EarlyPay Discount Schedule for a complete daily breakdown.
Why is my EarlyPay payment less than the full invoice amount?
An EarlyPay payment may be less than the full invoice amount because a discount is applied when payment is advanced before the invoice due date. The earlier the payment is made, the higher the discount. Your remittance notification email will show both the original invoice amount and the EarlyPay amount (after any applicable discount).
How can I see how my EarlyPay discount was calculated?
You can view how your EarlyPay discount was calculated in the Invoices section of your PaymentWorks portal (on the Home page or the Invoices tab).![]()
